Following in the footsteps of his father, Gus Ravine, Guy has been a woodturner for over twenty three years.
His interest in the craft was kindled by seeing the lace bobbins and small spindle work his father had made. He shared his father's workshop in Northamptonshire, and then worked with him in Cornwall from 1980-84 before returning to Northamptonshire and setting up his current workshop.
Guy now produces a wide variety of spindle turned work, from 1/2 scale miniatures through to newell posts and columns, as well as production runs of items such as chair and table legs. He also makes bowls, from delicate natural-edged wet turned bowls to large salad bowls and one-off pieces for exhibitions.
Guy has been a member of the Register of Professional Turners since 1993, he is also a member of the International Wood Collectors Society.
